Release Notes 24.2
1 General Notes
1.1 About This Release
This documentation describes the changes in IDL Konsis, IDL Forecast. and IDL Xlslink compared to Release 24.1. The minimum requirement for installing this version is the installation of Release 24.1.
The previously released fixpacks are included.
With this release, maintenance for the 23.1 release ends.
From 24.2 on, IDL Konsis provides a What's New video for each release on YouTube. Select here to watch the What's New 24.2 video.
1.2 Data Backup
Before installation, please make a backup of your database(s) and check it to protect against data loss.
1.3 Migration
After installation, the release migration for IDL Konsis / IDL Forecast must always be performed first. After logging in, start the release migration via <Start migration now> in the message window. A restart is not necessary, all applications are available afterwards.
You can find the protocol of the migration under the short word RLSUPG (right-click on the corresponding migration).
If the migration is not started in this manner, e.g., because the logged-in user lacks authorization, the call of other applications is blocked. The only exceptions are the applications for maintaining the authorization data if the logged-in user does not have authorization to execute the migration due to the use of individual authorization groups. After manual execution of the migration, IDL Konsis / IDL Forecast must be restarted.
1.4 Documentation
In the subdirectory Doku\Release you will find the following documentations:
- Technical Installation Instructions
- Operational Installation Instructions
- Release Notes
For the currently valid "Hard and Software Requirements", please refer to the Customer Portal https://help.insightsoftware.com/s/article/IDL-Hard-and-Software-Requirements (login required).
1.5 Security
TLS 1.3 is used as the communication protocol between the client and the application server. Perfect Forward Secrecy makes it even much more difficult to decrypt the connection at a later date.
1.6 Technical Information
To enable "Web Client (Streaming)" please start configure.exe on your Application Server and go to the Common Configuration Section. After services have been restarted you could access IDL Konsis with your browser at your individual URL followed by https://myIDLKonsisAppServer/webswing-server/konsis/
The Desktop Client and the Launcher deliver the used JRE (Java Runtime Environment) in the installation directory, so that no separate installation is necessary.
Java 17 has been used since release 22.1.
The business runtime environment included in this release is limited until 01.03.2027 and must be renewed from this date at the latest.
1.7 Other Notes
1.7.1 Application Server
Since release 23.4, part of the application code is executed in a different runtime environment. No additional processes are started anymore, instead the application code is always executed within the application server.
If not already done, please adjust the memory usage of the application server in the configuration program so that it has about 50 percent more memory available. This memory was previously used outside the application server and should therefore already be available on the infrastructure used.
1.7.2 User Interface
Further adjustments were made towards a uniform UI for all products of insightsoftware.
1.7.3 Multilingualism
Improvements have been made to the French and English translations.
English translations have been introduced for the menu item shortwords and attribute keys in particular.
1.7.4 External Libraries
Numerous external libraries were updated to eliminate potential vulnerabilities.
1.7.5 Licensing of the ESG Component
With the current release, there are extensions relating to ESG that are part of the fee-based insightsoftware ESG solution. The applications in question are not yet covered by a license so that you can gain an insight into the functionality and gain initial experience. Please note that these features can only be used in future with a valid license key.
2 IDL Konsis
2.1 Menu Authorizations
The following menu items have been deactivated with this release because they have already been replaced by other applications in previous releases. The menu items will be deleted in a subsequent release. Until then, please remove all individual uses (authorizations, menu structures) of these menu items:
- none
2.2 Platform Data Sharing (PDS)
2.2.1 IDL Konsis as Data Provider
The following data is now also provided as business views:
- Fixed asset transactions
- All other transactions
- Controlling balances
- Intercompany balances
- Vouchers and postings
- Consolidation vouchers and postings
- Charts of positions
- Positions
- Allocation of Accounts and Positions
2.2.2 IDL Konsis as a Data Consumer
The IDL Konsis import system has been extensively expanded to enable the transfer of data from other insightsoftware products via Platform Data Sharing (PDS).
The data should be read out in the import application with the context menu item "Select data from PDS " via import tables and the application for import/export jobs. The activation of this function is planned for Fixpack 24.2 A and Release 24.3.
A new attribute for a business view has been added to the application for import and export formats (IEFID). The business view from which data is to be read out via PDS using this format can be specified here.
A new attribute for the name of the associated field in the linked business view has been added to the application for import and export format fields (ALLCFLD).
2.3 Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG)
Please refer to section 1.7.5. on licensing the ESG component.
Numerical ESG data is stored in accounts with the balance sheet/P&L code "M". The metric used (length, volume, ...) is assigned to the account. The local ESG values available in the account balances with the corresponding units defined for each company can now be converted into group and parallel values with their units defined for each fact. For this purpose, there is the new context menu item "Conversion of ESG values" in the company financial statement monitor (CFSMNR). This menu item only processes accounts with the balance sheet/P&L code "M". Conversely, this data is ignored by the currency conversion.
Metrics, units, and conversion factors can be imported with new import programs in the standard file format as well as in user-defined file formats.
In the MTRUNT and CNVFCT applications, metrics, units, and conversion factors can now be exported in the standard file format as well as in user-defined file formats.
In the form entry for account balances, the units (including currency codes) are now displayed in a separate column.
For narrative accounts (with the balance sheet/P&L code "N"), the entry of values in the single record application and the form entry for account balances is prevented.
In the application for displaying report results (REPERG), an optional column for displaying the units can now be shown. This is shown in the same way as the optional key column via an option in the selection area and can also be preset in the report header.
The "Metrics" attribute has been added to the account logging display (ACCLOG).
The details of group and parallel units per metric in the facts and the conversion factors for units are now considered in the SKDEPLOY application.
2.4 Company financial statement monitor
Some of the columns in the company financial statement monitor have been put in a more logical order so that you as a user are always able to work through a row from left to right.

2.5 Automatic generation of postings
The definitions for automatic vouchers and postings are now also transferred as part of the Group-wide data exchange (GRPSUBEX).
A percentage can now be specified in the booking rule. This means that the booking created does not contain the full amount, but only the desired percentage.
If a percentage is used in the posting rule to create multiple postings with shares that add up to exactly 100%, the total of all postings created may differ slightly from the value in the original account due to rounding differences. This rounding difference is cancelled out.
The new reference rule is now considered in the SKDEPLOY application.
3 IDL Forecast
3.1 User interface
The icons for the actions in a table have been put in a more logical order.
4 IDL Xlslink
4.1 General
In addition to the new features described below, a number of bug fixes and performance improvements have again been incorporated into IDL Xlslink in this release.
4.2 Formula Editor
4.2.1 Troubleshooting for the multi-selection of cells
A possible error when selecting and editing multiple cells at the same time has now been fixed.
4.2.2 Cellpicker now works on multiple cell selections
Only one cell address can be selected for the cell picker. Now if a user inadvertently selects a cell range, only the top left-hand cell is accepted as the selected cell address.
4.3 Read Functions
4.3.1 Read function controlling balances with hierarchy controlling objects corrected
Reading controlling balances with hierarchy controlling objects incorrectly returned a zero under certain conditions. This has now been fixed for hierarchy levels greater than 1.
